Far and away

So this is how it feels. I am having my first bouts of homesickness. I'm here in the Emirates for almost three months now. Three months! Its the longest I've been away from home.

When I've just arrived a friend advised that I should give six months for myself to adjust. Another missionary friend said that I must consider this as home now. I absent-mindedly replied and said ok, yeah, sure. Easier said than done.

You see there is no place like home. As familiar as it sounds I can't think of a better quotation to describe how I feel. Some of you might think that its commonest of all carved wall ornaments sold in Papelmelroti but it is true to me now that it has ever been.

Argh! I miss Manila (like hell) and I can't do anything about it.

I guess there's really nothing much you can do except acknowledge it (homesickness). There's no place like home is true, so true.
Gosh, I have not heard the word Papelmelroti for a long time it brought back many warm memories when I read that word here :)...

(cyberhug) Now, do you know how to bake pan de sal? love your blog name and tag line.

hey Gigi,
Life away from home is indeed a sacrifice---but in the course of time, you'll be able to get used to it- just keep praying....and visit my site!

Liza, hugs back to you. You are right, I guess that's just about all I can do now. Thanks! No I don't know how to bake pandesal, do you? I miss pandesal na tuloy hehe, they have pandesal here but I like the "bakery sa kanto" style better than the supermarket-baked.

Dom, reading your blog is an encouragement. Para akong nagsimba :-)

I say give it ten years (LOL).

Well, is it all that "putok" smell there that's causing this feeling of homesickness? Just tell me so I can send you some Vicks.

Seriously, my worst months were the first six months (in Switzerland) and also the months that follow my regular vacation in Manila.

I know the feeling, Ghie. Gusto mo, bisitahin na lang kita dyan one day. :-) Miss ko na rin ang mga amoy ng tao dyan. Hahaha.
